Friendly ‘shooting’ at Buntalan Firing Range


MALUNGON, Sarangani Province - Local gun-holders and shooters from nearby General Santos City compete to mark the second day opening of the five-day (July 11-15) 45th Foundation Anniversary celebration of this municipality. 
The LGU-tasked event organizer and overseer, local police station chief PSI Lurobe Rojo said the clustered three category groups of around 35 registered gun holders, compete the handgun speed, power and accuracy shooting at a planted mixed props such figurative doors, obstacles, blockade and various objects in Sitio Buntalan mini firing range here in Brgy. Poblacion.
 
“The event was designed to assess and develop the capability and accuracy of local shooters in firing. At least the simple practical shooting stages could may able to help participants enhance their shooting capabilities, and so the self confidence they need in defending themselves against any form of unpredicted threat and aggression,” Rojo said in an exclusive interview. 
Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino said from this year’s opening, the practical shooting competition will be listed as one among the string of events to highlight the annually held celebration. “This will be stress to enhance the competence of our responsible gun holders on how to defend themselves against the aggression of gun-for-hire and other form of lawless elements.” 
Practical shooting is a sport which challenges an individual’s ability to shoot rapidly and accurately with a full-powered handgun, riffle and or shotgun. 
 
Those named winners of the recently held Malungon Practical Shooting Competition are as follows: Champion-Butch Nallos, 1st runner up - PSI Arman Tuban and 2nd runner up – Louie Nallos (Individual Category); Champion – Farmer’s Team, 1st runner up – COP Team, and 3rd runner up – DCOP Team (5-Man Team Category). The championship prize in the Gun Relay Category goes to DCOP Team, followed by the Farmer’s Team (1st runner up), and the Mixed Team. (Isagani Palma – MALUNGON INFORMATION OFFICE).
