"Dont ever cross a flooded river"

Don't ever cross a flooded river

MDRRMO rescue and recovery operation – The lifeless body of farmer Waberto Monterola, 51 year-old, when fished out from waters of the composite Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Bureau of Fire Protection rescue team in Datal-as River, Malungon, Sarangani Province. See related story. (Keen Pacheco –MDRRM Malungon).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MALUNGON, Sarangani – Gilayon nga nadiskubre sang nagresponde nga m’yembro sang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office ang patay’ng lawas sang isa ka 51-anyos nga mangunguma nga kuno, bisan ‘nakainom’ nagsulay pa sa pagtabok sa masulog nga sapa’ sa may Buayan Crusher, Brgy. Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani Province.

(Isagani Palma/ MIO-Malungon, Sarangani Province).

'Tatayo ang MSU bago magtapos ang aking termino' - Constantino

Dads urge Rep. Pacquiao to fast track creation of new ‘ Malandag town’
By ISAGANI PALMA

MAASIM, Sarangani Province – The League of Mayors of the Philippines in the Municipalities (LMP- Sarangani Chapter) passed an urgent resolution requesting Rep. Manny Pacquiao to fast track the creation of Brgy. Malandag in Malungon town, as new municipality of Sarangani Province.

The comprising mayors of Sarangani jointly approved resolution no. 2A74 during its 2nd regular session held at Lemlunay Diving Resort in Maasim town.

Mayors said the resolution urging Pacquiao to facilitate and expedite the creation of the 11 barangays of Malungon, Sarangani Province into a Municipality of Malandag, has been emphasized in accordance with the policy of the state that a local government unit could be created, provided either by law enacted by Congress in the case of province, city, municipality, or any other political subdivision, or by ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlalalwigan or Sangguniang Panglungsod concerned in the case of the barangay located within its territorial jurisdiction, subject to such limitation as requirements prescribed by law.

LMP believes that the creation of 11 barangays of Malungon Sarangani Province namely: Malandag, Datal Tampal, Altae, Alkikan, Kibala, Malabod, Blaan, Datal Batong, Datal Bila, Consolation and Nagpan into a municipality to be known as the Municipality of Malandag ,will enhance the prompt delivery of basic services to the public which is the primordial consideration of the state.

This includes the verifiable indicators of viability and projected capacity of the abovementioned barangays to provide services such as income, population and land area for its'conversion to municipality has been fully satisfied with.

It said the Local Government of Malungon have initiated its creation into a municipality since 1995 during the time of former Vice Governor Filipe Constantino, which firstly appropriated the "much needed funds for the creation of the municipality including the budget intended for the conduct of a plebiscite that was supposedly called for the same purpose.

Reports said a house bill was enacted by former Congressman Erwin L. Chiongbian to facilitate the creation until it reached the Senate Committee on Local Governance under the chairmanship of the late Senator Robert Barbers but it has remained to be stagnant as to this day, despite the fact that Senate Committee hearing has been made positively for its creation.'
Therefore, it has been resolved by the LMP to request the honorable Congressman Pacquiao to facilitate and expedite its creation, in as soon as possible time.

The resolution has been properly signed by no less; the LMP Sarangani Chapter president and Glan town Mayor Victor James Yap, Mayor Alfonso Singcoy of Malapatan, Mayor Corazon Grafilo of the capital town of Alabel, Malungon town Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino, Mayor Anecito ‘JoJo’ Lopez of Maasim, and Kiamba town chief exec, Mayor Raul Martinez. (MALUNGON INFORMATION OFFICE).
