More LGU projects looms for women in 2014

MALUNGON, Sarangani – The local government will continue to receive and entertain applicants to its micro-financing project following the submission of a yearend report which discloses a more or less P2M surplus in its financial support program this year.

Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino said any bonafide Municipal Council of Women group-member is still very much welcomed to join the project, provided that his/her proposal will pass the proper evaluation system that is being compelled by the local government to ensure that the aid will be appropriately emphasized.

The announcement was stressed Thursday (December 12, 2013), amid the MCW’s Christmas gathering dubbed as, “Pasko ay Panhon ng Kasiyahan, Pagbibigayan at Pagmamahalan,” highlighted by the group officials’ presentation of its yearend accomplishment report at Sunken Arena in Brgy. Poblacion, here in this municipality.

The mayor’s better half Roselyn Dadivas-Constantino, said the affair was graced by women leaders, government officials led by Councilor Joseph Calanao, local entrepreneurs and MSWDO personnel.

I think we have still an unused funding of more or less P1, 973M. This is considering that we have only distributed about P900, 000 out of the P2M that was awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local government to the LGU, for being recipient of the prestigious Robredo’s Seal of Good Housekeeping. In line, both the MCW and our local government's MSWDO also reported that we have only able to release around P626, 268.96 out of the P1.5M assistance that was downloaded by Sagittarius Mines for our hog dispersal project,” said Ms. Constantino.

Malungon fighters bag 9 'wins' in Pacman's Sargen tourney


Marvin Tabano bagged the championship title in the three-round 52-kilogram amateur fight following a majority decision win against Kiamba town's silver medalist, Van June Saludar.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Boxers from nearby municipality of Malungon in Sarangani Province bagged the overall silver of the ten-team boxing event, after winning 4 bronze, 2 silvers and 3 golds in the recently held Rep. Manny Pacquiao - sponsored 2-day amateur boxing bouts in Brgy. Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province. 
Officials said the boxing tournament was among other events such basketball ( in open and enter-government categories), volleyball, table and lawn tennis, chess, dart and marksmanship that were staged to highlight the P4.2 million-prized 1st Pacman Sargen Sports Fest 2013.
These were simultaneously held at Mr. Bigshot, Robinson’s Place, Pacman’s Stadium in Barangay Tambler here in the city, and Pacman's Beach Resort in Maasim town. 

Boxing event organizer Sannie Sombrio said Pacquiao launches the athletic competition in an aim to foster closer ties and brotherhood among government workers, not only of Sarangani Province (represented by municipalities of Malungon, Glan, Alabel, Malapatan, Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum), but likewise the adjacent city of General Santos and its Liga ng mga Barangays, as well.

Malungon town won first blood in the 10-team contested event after garnering 4 bronze in the event's soft opening, and other additional major awards during the championship round held on Friday (December 6, 2013). Malungon got 11.25 on score board, next to team Sarangani that brought home the prestigious championship title after garnering a total average score of 20.9 (4 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze). Third place goes to Malapatan town with 3.25 points with one gold, 2 silvers and a bronze. 

Gold contender-turned silver medalist’s Paul Estremos was defeated by Harley Tumanuan of LGU-General Santos in bout 77 of the junior weight category, while Malungon’s Carlo Paalam championed via unanimous decision, against John Paul Bentoso of team Sarangani in the 46-kilogram fight category. 

In bout 81, Jeronil Borris outplayed Rene Mark Luarto of Glan town, while Gensan’s pride Lloyele Alde victoriously conquered via split decision in the 49-kilogam fight category, Isagani Llaban of Malungon. Marvin Tabano, also defeated Kiamba town’s Van June Saludar in the 52-kilogram category.

Pacquiao, on Saturday’s awarding ceremony at La Veranza mall, said he is eying for a much bigger and merrier event for government employees by next year. “I have seen how effectual the event was kaya sinisiguro ko na mas magiging masaya at malaki ang gagawin nating sports celebration sa susunod na taon,” the fighting congressman said in a vernacular. GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The ‘Stallions’ of Malungon anchored its way to the top after crushing down Maitum’s finest in the newly held basketball open which highlighted the 1st Rep. Manny Pacquiao SarGen Sports Fest at Pacman SPORTS Stadium here in the city.

Stallions’ got a green to finals after nailing down Malapatan’s Pegasus (78-70) in the preelimination rounds, followed by a blasting win against the second placer Maitum which brought home a silver on Friday.

Malapatan landed ‘fourth’ after it was defeated by the Pacman Team of Sarangani (83-86) in the battle for bronze.

Prized at P500, 000 for gold, P300, 000 (silver) and P200, 000 (bronze), the basketball tournament was part of the first-ever P4.2 million Pacquiao-sponsored 5-day sports festival (December 2-6, 2013) dubbed as “Building the torch of Unity, Hope and Prophesy through Sports,” in Sarangani and General Santos City.

Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino said the launching was in collaboration to the recently held celebration of Munahto Festival and 21st –year foundation anniversary of the province. Aside from the well-played open and enter-government basketball categories, other included games during the event are boxing, volleyball, table tennis, lawn tennis, chess, darts and marksmanship.
“I am certain that the Congressman sponsored these activities in an aim to foster solidarity, unity and friendship among government employees, not only within the seven municipalities of the province but likewise to its nearby city of General Santos and the Liga ng mga Barangays,” Constantino added.

Pacquiao, amid awarding of prizes at Veranza Mall on Saturday, said he is once again eyeing for a much bigger and more ‘perfect’ event  to hold in the upcoming days in a bid to to continuously endorse what he have started. “Because I believe that it is not only because of what we got in terms of prizes that we are enjoying today, but of the sportsmanship and unity that we have shared while in course to victory. That is why no team will go home ‘empty’ today because we deserve to be happy,” said Pacquiao in a vernacular.
