Honorable Malungon town Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino’s message during the official opening of Sarangani 2nd Province-wide Health Summit on January 8-9, 2012 at the  Family Country Homes Hotel Convention Center in  General Santos City.
GREETINGS to all!

It has been a year since we had our first ever Province-wide health Summit, where we have worked together in a bid to widen up our vision of extending the most effective health  care for the benefit of our beloved constituents.

Thus, after a span of a year, I am here to admit that I have not able to do it, perfectly.  But yet, I am proud to say that per official records, our numerous and positive contributions on proper health care in the province, as well as our achievements – national and local – have out weight our imperfections.

Health programs are one of the basic, primary concerns of my administration because I believe that if my people are nourished, fit and healthy ... assenting changes on employment and education will soon to ensue.

In order to address the existing poverty in our country, our Municipality has developed a program which we call “Program 3-in-1,” wherein Philhealth Enrollees may avail of out-patient consultations for free, a TB DOTS Package which is also covered by Philhealth, and six birthing homes for pregnant women to deliver a child. And so to speak, we already have a total of 12, 831 enrollees that are now under Philhealth’s protection.

To further protect and strengthen the rights and benefits of pregnant women, the life of the unborn, as well as the health and nutrition of the entire members of each family, the Sangguniang Bayan of Malungon has passed an ordinance with respect to Maternal Neonatal Child Health and Nutrition Program.

Modesty aside, for many years, Malungon has been consistent for being an outstanding Nutrition Program implementor/awardee not only here in Sarangani, but the whole of Central Mindanao Region, as well.

For almost five years up to now, a program in Malungon called “Lingap sa Barangay,” where services that promote and bolster health, sanitation, and nutrition program is still being regularly held every Thursday. Through this, we continue to give easy and convenient access to the public by going directly to the barangays and offer our services to them and not the other way around.

In spite of all our efforts to strengthen our health and nutrition programs, I am aware that there are still many things to be done. That is why, like all of you here, I am also very pleased and eager to listen and learn from our speakers, guests, and fellow public officials, the additional emphasis on how to achieve and alleviate our common goals. For it is certain, that through healthy discussions and evaluations, we could able to uplift the living condition of fellow Sarangans.

Once again, a pleasant day to all and a Happy New Year!
