MNAO says adieu amid Nutri-Month’s culmination day

MALUNGON, Sarangani – After extending all that she could give in public service, the volunteer Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) expressed her final adieu at the municipal gymnasium here, Friday.

“Honestly, I was so inspired by the occupation that was tasked to me by our beloved mayor. Serving my people in the past eight years, I have able to feel the passion and concern that surrounds us. And for the dynamic support of my staff, both the municipal and barangay Nutrition Councils, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), teachers, parents, and all of the helping organizations that we had, Indi ko gid kamo makalimtan (I will never forget you),” said Roselyn, the better half of Mayor Reynaldo ‘Bong’ Constantino, in a deeply expressed sense of emotions.

The lady Constantino, who was personally accompanied by the mayor himself for her last and concluding day of celebrating the town’s nutrition month as MNAO, also cited few memorable experiences that though how simple, possessed the ability of playing best contributions in establishing the local nutrition office to avail its fame. This includes for three separate times, receiving the prestigious regional “green banner” award that made Malungon town as the only municipality-representative of Central Mindanao Region, to the search of the prestigious National Hall of Fame’s “Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran” award in Malacanang, Manila.

“As MNAO, madamo ako experiences nga although how simple, wala gid ako naghuna-huna nga amo gali ini ang mga pipila ka mga hinungdan para mahimo kita nga isa sa mga pinaka-respitado nga munisepyo pag-abot sa Nutrisyon, sa bilog nga nasyon. Precisely, as simple of going around, up to the neighboring City of General Santos, just to seek for Malungay seeds that we need to enhance our nutrition program. All the happy and hard experiences we shared, nga wla gid ninyo ako ginpabay-an para sa legasiya nga both our beloved municipal mayor and I will leave you to remember, and so of the stories for you to tell in the new generations to come,” articulated the first lady Roselyn in a patois.

The MNAO's emotional adieu came next to her husband's last and final public address during the culmination of Malungon town's five-day 46th founding anniversary celebration on July 15.

Constantino, who is being tagged as behind of all positive changes in the municipality, will be stepping down from office next year, after serving for three consecutive terms (nine years) since 2007.

Also gracing the said event with its theme dubbed as, “Timbang Iwasto sa Tamang Nutrisyon at Ehersisyo,” was Sarangani Health Nutrition Officer, Cornelia P. Baldelovar. About 13 elementary schools and 11 secondary schools also enjoyed the nutritious meal servings, while a number of elected students-contingents participated the various inter-schools contests that of course include, cooking.

Mayor Constantino said the stabilization and success of the administration’s program in nutrition is one among the highly regarded undertakings that he and the rest of local officials can be proud of.

“When I assumed office in 2007, I always assure to it that my program in nutrition is well set and done. That is why I gave this task to somebody else that carries my respect and confidence. This is to no less but your beloved first lady and my very own, Inday ninyo Roselyn. For I believe that it (nutrition) showcases the kind of administration that I have. And with all these accomplishments, I can proudly say that I’ve got the right direction in my governance…and the protection that I most wanted to partake for every mother and child of Malungon to enjoy,” said Constantino.

“Indi ko mahambal ang tuman ko nga kalipay, kag I am praying nga bisan indi na ako kag si FL ninyo Roselyn ang volunteer action officer, tani ang inyo kadasig, dedikasyon kag motivation sa pagtabang sang atong nga mga kabataan magapadayon sa inyo ( BNS) tanan,” he said, adding that such feedings should not likely be for the body alone, but likewise in spiritual aspects.

“We grew up with our parents guidance to fear God at all times. So I hope for all our parents to teach also their children to grow up with God. Parehas sang akon kinabuhi nga bisan kapila na ako nagtalang, because of that fear of God, nakabalik pa ako gihapon kag nahimo nga si mayor ninyo Bongbong subong,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kag. Joseph Kalanao who chairs the committee on finance, health and nutrition also cited the consistency and effective thrust against malnutrition that was punctuated by the MNO since the assumption into office by Constantino.

He likewise applauded the various resolutions that were passed before the Sanggunian by former mayor-turned councilor Teody A. Padernilla. He said these strengthened more the concern and privileges being given by the LGU to local mothers and broods.

“I think the perfect quorum for today is for us to congratulate our nutrition officer for all the job well done. As a matter of fact, the only program in the LGU that could easily pass our committee (Finance) are those of the MNO kay nakita namon, hilabi nag gid sang aton nga mga SB members, nga halos always perfect and pagka-implimemtar sini tanan,” the councilor said.
