MALUNGON, Sarangani – Top local government officials here, with the neighboring city of General Santos and the nearby town of Kiblawan in Davao Del Sur, express optimism that the longtime contested triangular boundaries at the foot of Mt. Matutum will soon be solved.

Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino on Friday (August 3, 2013) said all efforts and cooperation expressed by each of the three affected local government units is nothing-less but of lucid sign to the swift resolution of the case.

In a recently held conference, Kiblawan Mayor Jimmy Camanero has already affirmed the turning over in favor of Malungon town; the longtime contested (3,380 has) Bolol Salo village which is located next to barangays Malabod, Datal Batong and Alkikan here.

The settlement was held in the presence of Gov. Claude Bautista, Army Gen. Gloriouso Miranda, AFP 1002nd brigade commander Col. Marcos Norman Flores, Davao Del Sur police director Senior Supt. Ronaldo Llanera and other ranking police, military and government officials in Digos City.

“This row has for years affected, not only our development program in the upper valleys, but likewise – peace and order,” Malungon town municipal assessor Honnelyne Guilley-Toyogon, explained.

Constantino said he also believes that the conflicted area between General Santos City and Malungon, Sarangani will soon come up to a 'win-win' solution following a healthy discussion with City Mayor Ronel Rivera and the lawyers, City Administrator Arnel Zapatos and Councilor Jeng Gacal at Grab a Crab resto-bar in the city.

General Santos City and Malungon town officials are now working hard to settle the Upper Labay and Pulatana, Malandag conflicted rims, the report said.

Officials said the issue was first raised during the administration of former city mayor (now newly elected city councilor) Rosalita Nunez, but was stocked pale and dim after Nunez’ defeat in the 1998 elections. (Isagani Palma – MALUNGON INFORMATION OFFICE).
