MALUNGON, Sarangani – The couple-owner of a Las Pinas City-based French business firm is now in the locality to conduct final phase study of an 'ethnic-designed' project that will pave way to the creation of a therapeutic massage and beauty wellness center in sitio Rancho, Brgy. Nagpan here. 

Bergoend Corporation president Yann Bergoend and better half Clarinna (Claire), BC's chief operating officer, said aside from doing business, the company is also crafting a design for the construction of a ‘native-aspired view deck’ at the upper portion of the village, and a skills training center for members of the indigenous peoples in the area.

Bergoend Corporation is a SEC registered company whose core business is mainly engage in various beauty, wellness and spa services, conducts various trainings and workshops in brace with LGUs, government-run agencies and private institutions, as well.

“I pity to see in Manila, some IPs that roams the city with no other means aside from being a lowly-paid servant, or if not poor street vagabonds. Somehow, the center will be of great help to the part of our tribal communities, specifically for those who could successfully finish the massage training and so with all other sensible proficiency teachings,” Clarinna said. 

The municipal engineer, Engr. Rodrigo Palec said the investing couple has also agreed that most materials that will be used in the construction will be from light native materials.

“Gusto ambi sang tag-iya nga indi expensive ang dating sang establisemiento sa mata sang mga umaabot nga mga kustomer, amo nga ang desinyo sini daw puro gid native products. (The owner wants the establishment not to look expensive before the eye of would be customers, that is maybe the reason why its design is almost purely made of native products,” said Palec, who did not disclose any possible amount in the project construction.

During the couple’s Monday courtesy visit to Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino, Clarinna said she had been gaining the prestige in her ‘beauty studio and massage therapy’ services because her masseuse, therapists and beauty care service providers are official NC-II license holders.

Edwin Minion, said responding policemen recovered a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunition, an XRM 125 carnapped motorcycle with plate number 9400 IA, cash believe to be owned by the hold-up victims, and brown-colored wallet with assorted drivers license and documents, during a brief running gun battle in sitio Molave, Talus, Malungon, Sarangani Province which resulted to the neutralization of one of the two heist suspects identified as certain Maximo Lagnas Lariosa of Tubod, Vinapor, Carmen, Agusan Del Norte. MALUNGON, Sarangani – POLICE neutralized in brief firefight, a suspected heist group leader which resulted to the recovery of not only carted cash and belongings, but an earlier stolen motorcycle used as ‘get away’ vehicle during a recently foiled hold-up incident in sitio Molave, Talus, Malungon, Sarangani Province. 

P/Chief Inspector Lorobe Rojo, in a report forwarded to Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino on Friday, said the black and white-colored XRM 125 motorcycle bearing plate numbers 9400 IA was formally turned over to its legal owner identified as certain Carlos Cadiongon on February 03, 2014 at the Municipal Police Station, here in town.

Rojo said the motorcycle was left behind during brief exchange of fires between government authorities and the two suspects who earlier pretended to be as diesel fuel sellers to a local-based lady entrepreneur. 

Police said the wounded suspect later identified as certain Maximo Lariosa y Lagnas of Lariosa of Tubod, Vinapor, Carmen, Agusan Del Norte, was immediately brought to a nearby infirmary for medication - but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians. 

Modus operandi:

“The suspects, in the guise as diesel fuel suppliers first approached and befriended the victim (name withheld) at her roadside eatery, until such time that they returned to the place to 'do business.' This time, the victim with her son and several workers boarded their private-owned truck to allegedly haul the diesel fuel, while the suspects led the convoy toward the supposed place where the diesel fuel could be easily loaded to the truck. 

The suspects later announced the heist right after entering a small secluded farm road and took with them the more or less P60, 000 cash of the victim. Tied, the victims however managed to untie themselves and report the incident to police authorities. 

Community, barangay officials’ participation:

After the flashed alarm, Malalag Cogon Brgy. Capt. Randy Manguirn called the police at around 5:00 pm to inform about a Honda motorcycle with plate number 9400 IA that was left unattended for several hours, at a grassy portion of Malalag Cogon National High School.

Rojo said a road block was right away established by nearby police stations particularly the combined TF Gensan and Police Precinct 08-manned checkpoint in Brgy. Tinagacan, General Santos City. 

Police dragnet :

Policemen backed by barangay officials and tanods were immediately dispatched by Rojo who was then with PO1 Crisanto Baculna, in various strategic points, where authorities have waited until the suspects’ return at around 7:20 in the evening. 

“I ordered my men to identify themselves as government authorities while halting the suspects, who instead of slowing down, speed up their motorcycle and fired at the pursuing policemen. These prompted operatives to engage in a running gun battle, hitting the back rider down to the ground. The driver however, continuously engaged by firing back a handgun against the pursuing policemen. He managed to run towards a darkened portion of the place, and perished in the dark,” Rojo added. 

Further verification:

Aside from being pinpointed by his would be victims, a follow-up coordination with Carmen town chief of police P/Sr. Insp. Marife Farol has confirmed that the same suspect is a longtime wanted due of a standing Court warrant for Robbery and Violence or intimidation issued by Butuan City RTC 10th Judicial Region Presiding Judge, Hon. Augustus L. Calo. 

Rojo said on 01 February 2014, close relatives led by the suspect’s lived in partner Rosalinda Balmocena and elder brother Climaco, claimed the suspect’s cadaver at a local funeral parlor. 

Rojo said a case of Robbery with intimidation has been filed against the two (2) suspects at office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Alabel, Sarangani Province with NPS Docket Number: XII-07-INV-14B-00037 signed by Fiscal PAOLO R AQUINO, Prosecution – Attorney, Sarangani Province.

It can be recalled that Constantino also commended for a job well done, the PCI Rojo-led local policemen following the apprehension of a motorcycle carnapper last year. MALUNGON, Sarangani – Pupils of Malandag Elementary School cheers the arrival of Agriculture Undersecretary Segfredo S. Serrano to grace on Thursday (February 6), the ceremonial turnover of DA12-provided garden tools, vegetable seeds and farm materials in a bid to help fortify the Department of Agriculture's nationwide campaign of its Agri Pinoy Gulayan sa Paaralan Program here in Central Mindanao Region.

USEC Serrano, DA’s policy and planning Chief, was with Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala and DA-12 regional director Amalia Datukan’s convoy, when he dropped by MES to oversee the release of P667, 000.00-worth farm tools and materials. 

Report said Alcala and Datukan right away left General Santos City and proceeded by land to Davao, after conducting brief meeting with Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera and other city and Sarangani-based business firm owners such the Alcantara-owned Alson's Aquarium Corporation in Alabel town.

Alcala, accompanied by other top DA officials, was in General Santos City to attend the scheduled February 5-7 Socsargen Regions-hosted National Management Committee (MANCOM) meeting.

Meanwhile, Serrano was joined by Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino, local officials, DA-12 personnel led by Sarangani Agri-Program Coordinating Officer - Jocelyn S. Misterio, teachers, DepEd officials and officers of the local Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) during the turnover ceremony highlighted by a mass feeding program for grade-schoolers in Brgy. Malandag. 

In a brief message, Serrano emphasized the importance of fruits and vegetables in enhancing  kids health and nutrition “as it provide the much needed nutrients.” He also encourage parents to support and take part in the LGU backyard gardening and other agriculture-related programs.

For his part, Constantino thanked the Agriculture Department specifically DA-12, to all the support and assistance that DA provided his flagship program since he assumed office in 2007. “For this year, we have allocated more or less P10M funding for our agri-projects and other related priorities that are needed to strengthen more our flagship program in agriculture,” the mayor added.

Noted DA-MRDP projects that are often mentioned by Constantino during press interviews were the successful implementation of Poblacion-Kalonbarak farm-to-market road (FMR); opening of FMR access from Kiblat to Brgy. Malabod; establishment of P33M-worht Dairy Plant in Brgy. Malalag Cogon in which, could now produce processed milk from pure breed milking cow, and the P2.8 million-worth 800-meter stretched agricultural tramline in Brgy. Datal Batong.

Constantino said the cable carrier with loading capacity of 350-500 kilograms, stretches toward Sitio Blol where the town's farthest Kiturok village is located at the southern border.
