MALUNGON, Sarangani – The local government here, in its noble desire to assist women by providing various micro-financed projects and support, again initiated a whole day tour study on how to farm hogs in an odor-free backyard system. 

Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino’s better half Roselyn, the local nutrition (volunteer) officer and Municipal Council of Women (MCW) honorary chairperson, said the Wednesday (February 18) educational tour in FeedPro’s “Baboyang Walang Amoy” information and natural piggery farm demo center at Riverside Village, Silway 8, Polomolok, South Cotabato, was participated by top officials of the 79 different women’s organizations that comprise the local MCW chapter which is now participated by more or less 5, 000 members of the Women's In Development of Sarangani (WINDS) organization in Malungon, Sarangani Province. 

“This LGU-provided tour was stress in line with our noble aim to equip local women with various knowledge in odorless backyard hog raising, by the use of plant based materials such corn, soybeans, Mongo, copra and other natural feeds. In some way they will be ascertain on how to raise hogs in an easy to manage and odor free piggery through the Profitable Innovative Growing System or PIGS. This is a method of producing hogs in an environment that mimics their natural habitat, “ stressed the lady Constantino, adding that through this natural hog raising technology, small players are assured with less capital business that could raise a much safer and healthier meat in a very sustainable and eco-friendly way.

She said the activity as part of the month-long celebration of Women’s Month, will be re-echoed to its members during the commemoration’s culmination day on March 24 at the municipal gymnasium of the said municipality. 

Aside of piggery visit, Constantino said included in the event is the presentation and update reporting on all projects and LGU financing programs that were given to women under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Rural Improvement Club with the Department of Agriculture as its focal person, and the Barangay Nutrition Staffs, under the direct supervision of the MNC, in the year 2014. 

Reports said the continuous flow of support from the Costantino-led administration has able to assist women, not only of their families daily need on food consumption but likewise in sending their beloved broods to school.

Among other supports that the local administration have had stressed to women since Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino's assumption into office in 2007 include the release of P4.5 million-worth micro finance projects, SMI-supported millions-worth support programs, and the prestigious monetary award that Malungon town achieved as being a consistent holder of the DILG’s prestigious Seal of Good Housekeeping in the past years.

MALUNGON, Sarangani – Through consistent ‘universal movement’ on Philhealth and proper management of Municipal Health Office fund, the local government has able to produce a new light truck service vehicle and construct its public transportation terminal here in town, a reliable source said. 

Mayor Reynaldo F. Constantino, amid the Monday turn-over ceremony of the newly LGU-acquired brand new Toyota Hilux service vehicle to the General Services Office (GSO), said the service light truck was produced ‘due of following the required PhilHealth procedures, to wit almost 80% of this town’s entire total household population had been bonafide members since last year. 

“Due of our consistency on Philhealth, nakakita kita sang paagi kon diin maka-beneficio para idugang sa pagpabaskog sang aton nga pagpanerbisyo sa katawhan. Gani ginapahibalo ko ang tanan nga wala ini kwarta nga deriktamente naghalin sa aton munisepyo. Kundi bunga ini sang aton nga pagpaningkamot kag aktibo nga partisipasyon sa Philhealth program, pinaagi sang aton mga lokal nga trabahante sang MHO, kag sa bulig man sang aton nga mga lokal nga opisyales sang amo nga banwa,” Constantino said. 

He said aside from the Philhealth acquired benefits, the LGU only reduced a minimal amount of P2.5m from its last year’s MHO budget (2014), and so of this year,in purchasing the Lingap sa Barangay-intended service vehicle, and construction of a municipal transport terminal right at the Public Market site here in Brgy. Poblacion, Malungon, Sarangani Province. 

“By slightly reducing our MHO budget, we have able to construct our own terminal by only adding another P.5m for its entire completion. And despite, we have able to maintain our lead in terms of health services due of our consistent delivery of weekly ‘Lingap sa Barangay’ program in all of the 31 comprising barangays,” said Constantino, as he urges other people not to continuously pretend as blind for them to see if what the local government is really doing for the good of Malungonians. 

“That is why we are here every Monday to talk about what we did the past week. So let us not be blind, for those with ill motives of pretending to be such will never succeed. Because it is through this noble intention and deeds that the Lord will able to see the real color of our heart. Mga kaupod, nagapalapit na ang akon katapusan nga adlaw sang pagpanerbisyo. And I will be using our every Monday flag raising para maipaabot sa tanan kung ano na ang aton nahimo, kag dapat pa nga pagahimuon para sa kaayuhan sang tanan sa idalum sang akon adminitrasyon. Kay paris sang akon ginsiling, bwenas kita diri kay wala sang bulag sa aton,” the mayor added in a vernacular.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rafaida Hernandez-Garay, the local health officer, said aside from the newly constructed MHO building, the local government is now also eyeing for the purchase of ECG and ultra sound machines that will suffice the need of local residents in modern health equipment, through a memorandum of agreement with DOH-12. 

“And hopefully we can soon also purchase a new Toyota Ambulance and two units of (front drive-powered) multi-cabs to be use in servicing our pregnant women in our remote and upland villages.” (MALUNGON INFORMATION OFFICE).

MALUNGON, Sarangani – The local officials of Sarangani’s only landlocked town have entered into a memorandum of understanding with Bethesda Ministries International (BMi) on Monday, in an aim to strengthen more its anti-malnutrition and civic-assistance drive at the far most villages of the said town. 

Mayor Reynaldo ‘Bong’ Constantino was assisted by better half Roselyn, the concurrent municipal (volunteer) nutrition action officer, during the formal signing of MOU with Dr. Donald V. Soriano, Bethesda Foundation Executive Director in the Philippines, before the presence of Vice Mayor Erwin Asgapo and the rest of SB members, complete set of 31 barangay captains led by ABC president and Nagpan Brgy. Capt. Edna Tuanzon, and dozens of barangay-assigned nutrition staffs at the local chief executive’s office in Malungon, Sarangani Province. 

Officials said the purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to formally establish and strengthen the working relationship of the local government unit and Bethesda Ministries International (BMi), specifically on the distribution of various nutrition-related assistance in far flung villages that are mostly occupied by the Blaan and Taga-Kaulo tribes. 

Roselyn Constantino said the signing of partnership with BMi Ministries International, a related group of enthusiastic Pentecostal churches that are committed to one another in covenant relationship, was highlighted with BMi's turning over of 1800 nutritious Vita-Meal packs to the local government. 

“Prior to this activity, the combined religious ministries have already catered 1,019 school children in 29 schools; 4, 423 church members in 20 churches; 267 pre-schoolers; 1, 168 lactating mothers and 778 pregnant women during its feeding programs last year in almost all of our 31 comprising barangays,” said Ms. Constantino, who optimistically believes that the BMi-LGU partnership would enable to help the local government in maintaining its widen anti-malnutrition drive, which resulted for Malungon town to bag the National Nutrition Council’s search for “Green Banner Awardee” in the whole of Central Mindanao Region. 

Meanwhile, Mayor Constantino, said Bethesda Foundation’s endowment of more or less P3.6-million worth feeding materials within a short period of six (6) months also become instrumental in the local government’s commitment to fight against poverty. 

“The local government and its barangay leaders are very thankful to BMi for being one of our leading partners in a quest to improve the nutritional status of our poor residents. And so, their presence today is of lucid proof of support and gratitude in this undertaking,” Constantino told Soriano. 

In a message, Soriano said Bethesda Foundation is in close partnership with the Roman Catholic’s HAPAG-ASA-Assisi Development Foundation that was founded and established by no less, Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales. 

The ministry also believes that the fulfillment of each church’s God-given vision could be more successful, through the strength of relationship between pastors, “for such blending of biblical principles would enable the unified churches to be far more effective in the lord’s service.”
