MALUNGON, Sarangani – The Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) once again “stretched its wings” and carried out another humanitarian mission by transporting more or less P.7M-worth of relief goods at the typhoon-torn villages of Cabinuangan, Andap and Bamboo, all in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province.

TFOE national president Salvador Ramos said the convoy have reached the heavily affected villages on December 23, “just right on time for the two-day distribution of over 2,200 packs of relief goods consisting 5 kilos of rice, loaf bread, 2 bot. 500ml mineral water, 3 pcs canned goods, 3pcs noodles, 3pcs brand new clothes and assorted medicines for poor calamity victims – “to have something to take on Christmas day.”

“I am certain this is our second largest humanitarian mission since our first distribution of relief goods to the flood victims of typhoon Sendong in the cities of Cagayan De Oro and Iligan last year,” Ramos said in a huddle of newsmen, as he extend  utmost gratitude to all the support that was stressed by different Philippine Eagles regional offices, business firms such as KCC Mall, Bio-Tech Farms and the local government of Malungon, Sarangani through the help of his old buddy, Mayor Reynaldo ‘Bong’ Constantino.

Reports said the keenness of Ramos in conducting charitable undertakings specifically in areas that are heavily affected by natural calamities, have gained the reverence of fellow ‘Kuyas’ which eventually resulted for him to run unopposed during the latest TFOE elections.

His second year headship was conceded by top TFOE national officials during the recently held 31st Philippine Eagles National Congress in General Santos City, graced by no less Philippine Ambassador to the United States and former Senate president Ernesto Maceda who is likewise a long-time member of the Philippine Eagles Club.

Villanueva-Gonzales, the Constantino administration have again sent another consignment of relief goods to Comval Province, late last week.

The bags of rice, medicines, used clothes, canned goods and noodles were transported by local tourism employees and teachers of Malungon Christian Learning Center (MCLC) on board the MHO ‘rescuer’ vehicle, the report said.

It can be recalled that on January 2012, the LGU and local residents of Malungon town also supported the TFOE’s humanitarian mission with P400, 000-worth aid for victims of typhoon Sendong in Region 10.

In line, Ramos has conferred Constantino with a plaque of recognition which conveys the organization’s profound gratitude and acknowledgement to all the assistance that was stressed by the LGU to catastrophe victims.

In an exclusive interview, Ramos has applauded the dedication, vigor, cooperation and unity that was shown by the Socsksargen-based Eagles, NCR, Bicol and Davao Regions, Cave City, Santikan,Kagayha-an, Zamboanga City,  Global City, Taguig, Kuya Lino Dabi and the Metro Pagadian chapter, which keyed to the success of the TFOE humanitarian mission.  The said event was graced by top local and provincial government officials, and travelers from neighboring cities and provinces who come to observe and enjoy the colorful street-dancing competition, tribal wrestling or Sambuno, Fye’ kura (horse display), Saket Kura (horse fight) and the promotion of the newly established search for “Manenggeya na Libun” (meaning beautiful girl) in the municipality.
“Unlike other beauty contests, this beauty pageant (Manenggeya na Libun) is exclusively participated by tribal women who could speak, interpret and answer English or Pilipino questions with their own native lingos,” the pageant organizers explained.
Constantino, during the event also gave utmost appreciation to all the support that were stressed by both Sarangani Rep. Manny D. Pacquiao and Gov. Miguel A. Dominguez, ‘who have done much in uplifting the living condition of his people, and the local government’s longing to restore the vibrant yet vanishing customs and traditions of the Blaan and Tagakaulo tribes because of the influence that is being brought about by the western world.
“It is but fairly impressive to note that through the celebration of S’lang and Tribal Day festivities, my administration has able to restore the then vanishing natural trait and traditions of our people. For this activity serve as an instructive reminder for the latter breeds to remember who they are, where they belong, and the importance of being Filipinos,” the half-blooded Blaan chief executive, said.
Constantino have also thanked Rep. Pacquiao not only of his untiring support in the promotion of the town’s tourist destinations, the construction of millions-worth infrastructure projects, but for giving Malungonians a chance to redeem themselves from the ‘burden caused by dirty politics.’
“I would also like to give weight to what our good Gov. Dominguez did and yet to be done for the good of our beloved municipality. The governor’s effort in building bridges, the stabilization of our education system, and construction of additional farm to market roads will never be forgotten, but shall forever reverberate and serve as symbol of good governance in the wits of everyone  of us here in Malungon,’ Constantino added.
Unmindful of the blistering heath of the sun, student-contingents in colorful traditional costumes parade toward Sunken Arena on Monday, where thousands of spectators have shared a festive atmosphere with the locals who are used to be proud of being called as Blaans and the Tagakaulos.
In a message that was stretched amid the eventful day, Gov. Dominguez has applauded Malungon town for being a ‘top performing municipality in terms of progress and development in the entire province of Sarangani.’ He also urged Christian and tribal populace to continuously unite and share God’s blessings in a wonderful, quiet and harmonious way.
“I would like to congratulate everybody who have joined us  in celebrating the 5th tribal day. For it is of lucid fact that the continuous celebration of this annual event for the past five years could able to speak of itself -  as nothing less but a true emblem of success,” Dominguez said.
